The event took place on May 9, 2017 at the Cornhusker Marriott in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Educator and researcher, Norman Vaughan, PhD, kicked off the 2017 Innovation in Pedagogy and Technology Symposium on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. Vaughan, a professor at Mount Royal University, is the co-founder of the Blended Online Design Network (BOLD), a member of the Community of Inquiry Research Group and is on the editorial boards of numerous national and international journals. He has co-authored several books, including Teaching in Blended Learning Environments: Creating and Sustaining Communities of Inquiry and Blended Learning in Higher Education.
Vaughan was joined by special guest, thought leader and social scientist, Tanya Joosten, PhD, Senior Scientist and Director of Digital Learning Research and Development at the University of Wisconsin and leader of the National Research Center for Distance and Technological Advancements. Joosten is known for her work in blended and online learning.
Joosten and Vaughan were joined by 50+ thought leaders who presented break-out sessions on topics in leadership and strategy, pedagogy and instructional design and technology to the 500+ administrators, faculty and staff who were in attendance.
The symposium is offered at no cost to any NU faculty, staff or administrator and offers the opportunity for attendees to learn from nationally recognized experts, share their experiences and learn from the initiatives of colleagues from across the system.
